These virtual events provide an opportunity for faculty, students and staff to interact directly from OoR professionals. All events are free and open to anyone in the UGA community.

This session is designed to help faculty members build successful and mutually beneficial partnerships with industry. The presenters will discuss the benefits of industry engagement, differences between federally funded and industry funded research, and practical tips to get started. This session of Research Live will also cover resources available at the university to support faculty/industry research collaboration.

Teach Yourself to Fish: UGA Resources for Identifying Research Funding Opportunities

In a changing environment for research support, it’s more important than ever for researchers to use every tool at their disposal to find the right funding opportunities for their research. In this edition of Research Live, UGA Libraries and Office of Research staff will walk attendees through Pivot and Foundation Directory, two databases that can help UGA investigators stay abreast of public and private funding opportunities in their disciplines. Learn to set up your account, set up search terms and periodic alerts, and how best to move forward once you’ve found the opportunity that’s right for you.

Research Data Stewardship Policy & Support Services

UGA recently adopted a new Research Data Stewardship policy developed by the Research Data Management Advisory Council (RDMAC). This policy focuses on issues of ownership, sharing, and retention of research data in response to federal public access and data management requirements. The council is promoting steps to improve UGA’s services and infrastructure to support research data management, such as the UGA Libraries’ new institutional repository, UGA Open Scholar, and research data management planning consultation services offered through Research and Computational Data Management (RCDM). Join us for this session of Research Live to learn more about this new policy, supporting guidance, and related services and support offerings.

Private foundations can provide critical support for research with the potential to advance the foundation’s mission. In this Research Live webinar, experts in foundation relations will share tips that will help UGA researchers establish connections with foundations that align with their work, develop connections with the decision makers at those organizations, and craft funding proposals that resonate with foundation priorities.
