September 2016 Innovation Gateway Highlights

  • Innovation Gateway and UGA’s Discovery and Innovation Partnership team co-hosted visits by two companies exploring research collaborations and licensing opportunities.

  • Innovation Gateway hosted two Lunch and Learn sessions focused on startup funding opportunities. Ashley Cornelison provided information on the Georgia Research Alliance Ventures program, and Frank McDaniel highlighted angel funding opportunities from the Georgia-based Bio/Med Investor Network.
  • Innovation Gateway hosted the third quarter meeting of its Board of Advisors, featuring presentations by Kausar Samli, CEO of Glycosensors and Diagnostics, and Biao He, CEO of CyanVac.
  • The UGA Griffin Campus Turfgrass Field Day was attended by Innovation Gateway staff members who participated in a meeting with the Program Administrator of the Turfgrass Water Conservation Alliance, along with UGA researchers Brian Schwartz, Paul Raymer and Clint Waltz, department of crop and soil sciences, among others in the turfgrass industry.
  • Innovation Gateway met with and presented to UGA faculty at the 2016 New Faculty Research Orientation hosted by the Office of the Vice President for Research.
