UGA’s Science Library Makerspace is quickly becoming a valuable resource to researchers across campus. Open to all UGA students, staff, faculty and affiliates, the Makerspace offers an array of technologies free of charge, including 3D scanning, laser and vinyl cutting, virtual reality and 3D printing.

In November 2019, student Taylor Golden took advantage of these tools to further her field research. Using the Makerbot Replicator 3D printer, Golden, who earned a bachelor’s degree in forestry from the Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources in spring 2020, created several models to aid in her studies of the Eastern box turtle.
