Pre-med student Phebe Afolabi gets a flu shot from pharmacy student Andrew Ward at Pharmtoberfest, held Oct. 24. During the event, the College of Pharmacy administered 200 flu shots; provided screenings for blood pressure, blood glucose, HIV and hepatitis C; and hosted sign-ups for bone marrow registry and voter registration. Pharmtoberfest is not the only way the university is fighting flu—UGA’s Ted Ross will lead a collaborative effort to develop a universal flu vaccine, funded by an NIH grant for up to $130 million.
