The program is designed to both comply with the State of Georgia laws governing the use of lasers found in Georgia Statutes: \u00a7 111-8-91.0<\/em>1 <\/em>through \u00a7111-8-91.06<\/em><\/a>, <\/em>as well as adhering to the widely accepted guidelines of the American Nation Standard for Safe Use of Lasers; ANSI Z136.1.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]\n

Laser Safety Manual<\/h2>\n

The Laser Safety Manual<\/a> was written to fulfill the purpose and achieve the objectives of UGA\u2019s Laser Safety Program.\u00a0 The manual applies to all students, staff, faculty, and visitors using Class 3B or Class 4 lasers or laser systems on campus and is considered the primary reference and compliance document for the program.<\/p>\n

Laser Safety Training<\/h2>\n

All individuals working with or around Class 3B or Class 4 lasers or laser systems are required to meet all training and safety education prescribed by the Laser Safety Officer. This includes completing the\u00a0Laser Safety Training module located in UGA\u2019s Professional Education Portal<\/a>; as well as the completion of a signed and submitted Laser Worker Certificate<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Laser Registration<\/h2>\n

State of Georgia Rules and Regulations: Section \u00a7 290-5-27.02 requires that all Class 3B and Class 4 laser systems be registered with the Georgia Dept. of Public Health.\u00a0 A Laser Registration Form<\/a> must be completed and submitted to UGA\u2019s LSO.\u00a0 See form for further details.<\/p>\n
