The program is designed to both comply with the State of Georgia laws governing the use of lasers found in Georgia Statutes: <a href=\"https:\/\/rules.sos.ga.gov\/gac\/111-8-91\"><em>\u00a7 111-8-91.0<\/em><em>1 <\/em>through \u00a7<em>111-8-91.06<\/em><\/a><em>, <\/em>as well as adhering to the widely accepted guidelines of the American Nation Standard for Safe Use of Lasers; ANSI Z136.1.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]\n<h2>UGA Laser Safety Officer (LSO) contact information<strong>:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Brian Herndon<br \/>\nSafety and Compliance Officer<br \/>\n220A Tucker Hall|310 East Campus Rd.|Athens, GA 30602<br \/>\nEmail: <a href=\"mailto:bherndon@uga.edu\">bherndon@uga.edu<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Office Phone: 706-542-0526<\/p>\n<h2>Laser Safety Manual<\/h2>\n<p>The <a href=\"\/docs\/units\/safety\/laser\/Laser-Safety-Manual-Printable.pdf\">Laser Safety Manual<\/a> was written to fulfill the purpose and achieve the objectives of UGA\u2019s Laser Safety Program.\u00a0 The manual applies to all students, staff, faculty, and visitors using Class 3B or Class 4 lasers or laser systems on campus and is considered the primary reference and compliance document for the program.<\/p>\n<h2>Laser Safety Training<\/h2>\n<p>All individuals working with or around Class 3B or Class 4 lasers or laser systems are required to meet all training and safety education prescribed by the Laser Safety Officer.
