Registration is now open for the 27th Annual Molecular Parasitology & Vector Biology Symposium to be held Thursday, April 27, at the University of Georgia’s Special Collections Library. The conference is hosted by the Center for Tropical and Emerging Global Diseases.
This day-long regional conference on parasites and host/parasite interaction drew more than 150 attendees last year from many departments at UGA and colleagues from other institutions in Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, Florida, Mississippi, and Tennessee.
Rick Fairhurst, M.D., Ph.D., from NIAID Malaria Pathogenesis and Human Immunity Unit is this year’s keynote speaker. His research focuses on the mechanisms of human resistance to malaria in Mali and parasite resistance to antimalarial drugs in Cambodia.
Graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and other researchers are invited to present their research in either an oral or poster presentation. Abstracts for these presentations are due by April 13.
There is no cost to attend the Symposium, or the full catered lunch, but registration is required.
