The New Materials Institute will hold an information summit on Tuesday, Feb. 14, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., at the University of Georgia Special Collections Library. Breakfast and lunch are provided for those who register to attend.
This meeting will introduce faculty from different schools and colleges on campus to New Materials Institute interdisciplinary efforts to create sustainable materials and practices based on green engineering principles, which have the ultimate goal of minimizing waste and protecting human health.
We will describe several existing efforts targeting large grant opportunities from both federal, industrial, and not-for-profit sources, and we are seeking partners from a variety of different disciplines, ranging from the sciences, to business, to education that can play an important role in these activities.
Please plan to attend if your research, teaching, or service activities include:
|Polymer science||Biofuels and bioproducts||Metabolic engineering|
|(Eco)toxicology||Materials flow/waste management||Green chemistry|
|Biomimicry||Energy balance/Life cycle analysis||Microbiome impact|
|Industrial ecology||Synthetic biology||Biomaterials|
|Materials science||Resource economics||Plant biology|
|Packaging||Carbohydrate structure/function||Sustainable agriculture|
We encourage anyone interested in materials research, education, outreach, and sustainability to register for this event.
