Formo, manager of UGA\u2019s Georgia Electron Microscopy Lab, gathered micrometeorites\u2014extraterrestrial dust particles, including fragments of comets and asteroids\u2014from building rooftops in Athens. He identified micrometeorites in the 5-to-500-micron range via high-resolution imaging and elemental analysis, then verified authenticity based on their morphologies and elemental compositions.
