Established in 2015, it unified the university’s technology transfer and startup support efforts, laying the foundation for a more efficient path for driving ideas from lab to market.

Over the past 10 years, the program has expanded its commercialization pipeline, supporting hundreds of inventions through disclosure, licensing, and startup formation, as well as strengthening partnerships with industry and investors to accelerate translation. These efforts have helped position UGA as a national leader in bringing new products to market and advancing research with real-world impact.

Today, Gateway’s impact is reflected in strong national rankings, growing licensing income, and a robust startup pipeline. As it enters its second decade, Innovation Gateway is focused on expanding translational support, accelerating discovery, and maximizing the societal and economic impact of UGA research.
