Georgia Power is an ideal partner to the University of Georgia because the company is on the ground with Georgia communities every day. From its work with the Archway Partnership to research collaborations with UGA faculty, Georgia Power’s impact is felt across campus.
“Georgia Power and Southern Company are always there asking what they can do to help, how they can champion the community’s work,” said Michelle Elliot, UGA Archway Partnership director.
In 2023, Georgia Power made a significant commitment to UGA’s E-Mobility initiative, which will help drive growth of the state’s electric vehicle industry and prepare Georgians for a more electrified future. The company also provides experiential learning opportunities, especially for engineering students.
“I’ve gotten hands-on experience that I wouldn’t have been able to do in a classroom necessarily,” said Asa Fort, an engineering undergraduate and Georgia Power co-op participant. “It’s also given me an opportunity to use what I’ve learned and be able to translate that into a career opportunity.”
In this video, UGA and Georgia Power leadership, as well as UGA students, talk about the value this longstanding partnership brings to both institutions and the state they call home.
