It’s Honors Week—a time to recognize and celebrate the outstanding work of UGA students, faculty, staff and alumni. Even though the world is facing new challenges during this unprecedented time, UGA is committed to honoring its award recipients, virtually, from April 20-24.

This celebratory week includes the 41st annual Research Awards, which are given annually to recognize faculty, postdoctoral researchers and graduate students for innovative, ground-breaking research and scholarly activities.

The Office of Research, which distributes the Research Awards, is pleased to announce this year’s recipients:

“The Research Awards recognize outstanding researchers and scientists who have made significant contributions to their fields, and thus to the university’s reputation for world-class research, scholarly and creative activities,” said David Lee, vice president for research. “Today, more than ever, UGA research is at the forefront of discovery across the globe. Each award recipient embodies the tenacious spirit and determination required to advance the frontiers of knowledge and understanding, and we salute them for their dedication and their accomplishments.”

Honors Week is an annual UGA tradition dating back to the 1930s, when then-Chancellor S.V. Sanford dedicated a day to recognize outstanding students. In 2011, the event was expanded to include events recognizing faculty, staff and alumni.
