Michelle received her bachelors degree in chemistry at George Mason University and earned her doctorate in biochemistry and cancer cell biology at Iowa State University. She was a postdoctoral fellow at the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Prior to coming to UGA, Michelle was the Senior Director of Technology Development at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies where she oversaw industry and foundation partnerships, licensing technologies, negotiating license agreements, and the formation of new biotechnology companies. Prior to her position at the Salk Institute, Michelle held appointments with the National Institute of Health Office of Technology Transfer and the University of Pittsburgh Office of Technology Management, including licensing manager, senior licensing and intellectual property manager, and assistant director of licensing and intellectual property.
Michelle is a registered patent agent with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, as well as a member of the Association of University Technology Managers and the Licensing Executive Society.
