{"id":3305,"date":"2017-10-27T09:10:28","date_gmt":"2017-10-27T13:10:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/research.uga.edu\/ig-newsite\/?p=3305"},"modified":"2017-10-27T09:10:28","modified_gmt":"2017-10-27T13:10:28","slug":"september-2017-innovation-gateway-highlights","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/research.uga.edu\/gateway\/september-2017-innovation-gateway-highlights\/","title":{"rendered":"September 2017 Innovation Gateway Highlights"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li>Innovation Gateway has released its third <a href=\"https:\/\/gallery.mailchimp.com\/fc0d54caa862dc15a9acff2de\/files\/f67665af-243a-4d7e-b875-6b3a9ead56e6\/Devices_Catalog_FY2018.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Technology Catalog<\/a>, which lists device-type technologies aimed at applications in the agricultural, medical and telecommunication sectors.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/lectenz.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lectenz\u00ae Bio<\/a>, an incubator resident company engineering technologies for applications in glycoscience, was awarded two SBIR grants totaling $503,744.<\/li>\n<li>Innovation Gateway executed an exclusive license agreement for a citrus cultivar developed by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.plantbreeding.uga.edu\/people\/Wayne-Hanna.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wayne Hanna<\/a>, department of crop and soil sciences.<\/li>\n<li>Four members of UGA\u2019s Institute of Plant Breeding, Genetics and Genomics, received the inaugural John Ingle Innovation in Plant Breeding Award: Ivy Tran, Elizabeth Prenger, Tim Chappell, and Lisa Baxter. Innovation Gateway is pleased to support innovative research in this way.<\/li>\n<li>The first of four events in Innovation Gateway\u2019s annual Technology Transfer Educational Series, <em>Bridging the Gap Between Academia and Industry<\/em>, kicked off last month. The second event will be held November 8, 1 to 2 p.m., in Coverdell Auditorium S175.<\/li>\n<li>Innovation Gateway executed multiple testing and option agreements for ornamental selections developed by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.plantbreeding.uga.edu\/people\/John-Ruter.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">John Ruter<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.plantbreeding.uga.edu\/people\/Carol-Robacker.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Carol Robacker<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/extension.uga.edu\/about\/personnel-directory\/person.html?pk_id=11656\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Matt Dirr<\/a>, department of horticulture.<\/li>\n<li>Innovation Gateway staff met with incoming graduate students at the 2017 Graduate School Orientation and Information Fair to discuss technology transfer, intellectual property, and startup programs.<\/li>\n<li>Innovation Gateway executed a non-exclusive license agreement for a blueberry cultivar developed by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.plantbreeding.uga.edu\/people\/Scott-NeSmith.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Scott NeSmith<\/a>, department of horticulture.<\/li>\n<li>Innovation Gateway staff attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony of the new <a href=\"https:\/\/news.uga.edu\/releases\/article\/uga-cuts-ribbon-for-turfgrass-facilities-across-the-state\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Turfgrass Research Building<\/a> on UGA\u2019s Griffin campus.<\/li>\n<li>Innovation Gateway executed an option agreement, as well as a material transfer agreement, with an international company for a potential new tuberculosis therapeutic drug.<\/li>\n<li>Innovation Gateway staff attended the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uidp.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">University Industry Demonstration Partnership<\/a> meeting in Detroit, Mich., where best practices for industry and university research collaborations were discussed.<\/li>\n<li>Innovation Gateway executed multiple testing and option agreements for ornamental selections developed by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.plantbreeding.uga.edu\/people\/John-Ruter.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">John Ruter<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.caes.uga.edu\/departments\/horticulture\/people\/faculty\/matthew-chappell.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Matthew Chappell<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/extension.uga.edu\/about\/personnel-directory\/person.html?pk_id=11479\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ryan McNeill<\/a>, as well as for blueberry selections developed by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.plantbreeding.uga.edu\/people\/Scott-NeSmith.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Scott NeSmith<\/a>. All are from the department of horticulture.<\/li>\n<li>An Innovation Gateway staff member helped to organize the <a href=\"https:\/\/news.uga.edu\/releases\/article\/farm-tour-2017\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">annual UGA Georgia Farm Tour<\/a>, where UGA President Jere W.
