  • Innovation Gateway executed the following agreements:
    • One non-exclusive license agreement with Kerafast for an Ext1-deficient mouse lung endothelial cell line developed by Lianchun Wang, Complex Carbohydrate Research Center;
    • One license agreement for RubyCrisp, the newest muscadine grape cultivar developed by Patrick Conner, UGA horticulture;
    • Two testing and option agreements for ornamental selections developed separately by John Ruter, UGA horticulture, and Wayne Hanna, UGA crop and soil sciences;
    • Two license agreements with companies in China and Japan for blueberry cultivars developed by Scott NeSmith, UGA horticulture; and
    • Six license agreements for peanut varieties developed by Bill Branch, UGA crop and soil sciences.
  • Spring 2019 I-Corps participant Samantha Spellicy was featured as one of UGA’s Amazing Students.
  • An Innovation Gateway staff member attended a University Industry Demonstration Partnership (UIDP) conference designed to improve university-corporate engagement outside major metropolitan areas.
  • Four Athens and Athensmade, two nonprofit organizations focused on bolstering entrepreneurship in Athens, merged into a single collaborative organization to maximize support for entrepreneurs in the local community.
  • Five teams of UGA faculty and students presented their innovative research ideas, which range from peanut grading apps to new vaccine delivery technologies, at the UGA I-Corps Summer Showcase.
