Biao He is the Georgia Research Alliance Distinguished Investigator and the Fred C. Davison Distinguished University Chair in Veterinary Medicine at UGA. He was named UGA Inventor of the Year in 2017. His startup company, CyanVac, was launched in 2015 to develop vaccines for the prevention of both animal and human diseases using parainfluenza virus type 5 (PIV5) as a vector platform. CyanVac secured funding from the Georgia Research Alliance for the ongoing advancement of a vaccine candidate to prevent disease in swine and is collaborating with several industry partners to move the technology forward. The PIV5 vaccine platform system has been licensed or optioned to several major pharmaceutical companies for product development.
