  • Innovation Gateway executed several non-exclusive license agreements to multiple companies for peanut varieties Georgia-06G, Georgia-09B, Georgia-12Y, Georgia-13M, and Georgia-14N, developed by Bill Branch, department of crop and soil sciences.
  • Innovation Gateway executed a non-exclusive license agreement to a company for ‘Suziblue’ blueberry cultivar, developed by Scott NeSmith, department of horticulture.
  • Innovation Gateway met with UGA plant breeders in Tifton, Griffin, and Athens, along with the Georgia Seed Development Commission and Georgia Crop Improvement Association, to provide information and updates.
  • Innovation Gateway licensed a new technology developed by Shanta Dhar, department of chemistry, to start-up Partikula. This new technology will expand the breadth of Partikula’s portfolio, which is based on the development of compounds that specifically target mitochondria.
  • An Innovation Gateway staff member attended the Georgia Pecan Growers Association meeting in Perry, GA.
  • Innovation Gateway signed a field-restricted exclusive license agreement with a major animal health company for a vaccine platform system.
  • Innovation Gateway hosted an event, “From Idea to Marketplace: How UGA discoveries become products and companies,” to support the UGA Thinc and Athens Startup Week initiatives.
  • Four research antibodies developed by Donald Evans and Liliana Jaso-Friedmann, department of infectious diseases, were licensed under the Innovation Gateway’s research tools program.
  • Richard Shimkets, CEO and President of Abeome Corp., discussed his company’s antibody technology at the monthly Innovation Gateway Startup Stories seminar series.
  • Gateway staff members gave a short presentation to UGA’s Department of Food Science and Technology highlighting the services provided by Innovation Gateway.
  • An Innovation Gateway staff member attended the Agricultural Awareness Day hosted by Gov. Nathan Deal and Agriculture Commissioner Gary Black in Atlanta.
