When contemplating the creation of a startup company, both the Conflicts of Interest, Conflicts of Commitment and Outside Activities Policy and the Policy on Conflicts of Interest in Sponsored Programs can be relevant. When engaging in startup activities, UGA employees must continue to fulfill all their university obligations and may not utilize UGA resources for company work without both written approval and reimbursing the University. Startup activity must not begin until the outside activity is approved, and a conflict of interest is disclosed to your college\/school\/unit.
